Prescriptions can be obtained without seeing the doctor providing the doctor has agreed to this arrangement previously.

The quickest and easiest way to order your prescriptions is online.  To register just click on the link at the top of this page.  Repeat prescriptions will be processed in the same way as any repeat prescription and within the same time frame.

To place your request, send us your repeat prescription counterfoil clearly indicating which items you require. If you do not have this form a short note to the receptionist will suffice. If you find it difficult to get to surgery you will be able to make arrangements with one of the local pharmacies to collect your counterfoil and deliver your prescription to your home.

Many of the pharmacies in the area also offer a prescription collection and delivery service. Please contact them directly to make the necessary arrangements.

You must give us at least 48 hours to prepare a repeat prescription so please ensure you request a repeat at least 2 working days before your medication runs out

Any request for acute items will be ready in 72 hours.  Further details concerning ordering your prescription can be obtained from reception.

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

• those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
• those who are age exempt
• those with certain medical conditions

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

• 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
• 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

Pharmacists are experts in medicine who can help you with minor health concerns. 

As qualified heaalthcare professionals, they can offer clinical advice and over the counter medicines for a range of minor illnesses, such as:

• coughs
• colds
• sore throats
• tummy trouble
• aches and pains
• flu
• earache
• cystitis
• skin rashes
• teething
• red eye

If symptoms suggest it's something more serious, pharmacists have the right training to make sure you get the help you need. For example, they will tell you if you need to see a GP. 

Pharmacists are trained in managing minor illnesses and providing health and wellbeing advice. Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You don't need an appointment - you can just walk in. 

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.

Antibiotics are not available over the counter.
